New late-night bar and restaurant in Hull's Princes Quay moves one step closer to opening

0

A new late-night bar in Hull's Princes Quay, featuring its own pond and botanical decor, is a step closer to opening after submitting a licence application.

Iron Lilies, a 200-seat restaurant and bar, will be allowed to open seven days a week between 8am and 3am if its licence application is approved by Hull City Council. Tokyo Industries, which owns the venue and Princes Quay, has previously stated that Iron Lilies' look is designed to make a statement and provide diners with an enchanting dining experience.

The application for a liquor licence came as work was underway to convert the former Virgin Megastore store in Princes Quay into a bar and restaurant. Tokyo Industries had previously submitted a planning application which has since been approved, while the scheme was also supported by £750,000 of Levelling Up funding.

Tokyo Industries has announced that Iron Lilies on Level 2 of Princes Quay will celebrate the whimsical world of botany with its nature and plant themes. The company said: “This new restaurant and bar concept will include themed areas that will take you on a journey through the lily pond, leaving you seated amongst lush greenery and giant lily pads. The theme and settings add to the magic of this restaurant and bar experience.”

Plans for the venue called for patrons to arrive at an ornate, vibrant bar entrance designed to make a statement. The Palm Room, a casual drinking and dining area, would be located just off the bar, allowing patrons to sit amongst lush ivy and greenery.

There will also be a main restaurant area under a glass roof that will allow natural light in. The venue will feature a lily pond with pathways leading guests to the treehouse dining area.

Iron Lilies will also have an outdoor riverside terrace, complete with a retractable canopy to protect from the weather, allowing guests to dine al fresco year-round. Comments on Tokyo Industries' license application are open until Monday, May 27.
