1,245 students earn USLS degree

The University of St. La Salle (USLS) will recognize the achievements of 1,245 graduates at its 67th Graduation Rites, to be held on June 2 at 3 p.m. in the St. La Salle Coliseum.

Of the 1,245 students expected to graduate, 274 are from the College of Arts and Sciences, 668 from the Yu An Log College of Business and Accountancy, 71 from the College of Education, 189 from the College of Engineering and Technology, and 43 from the College of Law's Juris Doctor program.

The USLS Class of 2024, which began its first year of study amid the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, is being honored for its perseverance and academic achievements.

Of all the graduates, 308 students receive honors in Latin. This year's honorees include 84 students graduating summa cum laude, 66 magna cum laude, and 158 cum laude.

The closing speech will be given by Kurt Soberano, a renowned filmmaker and graduate of the USLS BA Communications program.

Soberano, known for his Negrense film “Under the Piaya Moon,” is expected to inspire and motivate graduates as they tackle their post-college endeavors.

Meanwhile, Briane Delo of the biology program, who achieved the highest grade point average among the graduates, will take the stage to deliver a speech on behalf of the class of 2024.

At the law school, June Steve Barredo, the valedictorian of the class, will give a speech on behalf of his fellow students.

A separate graduation ceremony is planned for the College of Nursing on July 21, 2024.*
