Hornsea Museum commemorates D-Day – Saturday 1 June

From 11am-4pm, Hornsea Museum is hosting a free event to commemorate the upcoming anniversary of D-Day.

There will be refreshments and a 1940s singer on the day. The dress code is “dress impressively in 1940s style” – but this is optional. Check out the Facebook page for more information.

Hull Model Railway Show – Saturday 1st June – Sunday 2nd June

For all model railway fans this weekend will be an unforgettable day.

The Hull Model Railway Show is taking place again this year in the event area on the ground floor of Princes Quay. Organised by the Hull Miniature Railway Society, visitors can look forward to working model railway layouts, stalls and even two model railway layouts that children can operate themselves.

The event starts at 10am on both mornings and runs until 5pm on Saturday and 4pm on Sunday. Tickets cost £5 for adults, £1 for under-16s and free for under-5s. See the Facebook page for more information.

Younger Traders Market @ Trinity Market – Saturday 1 June

Trinity Market, home to some of the best independent shops and eateries Hull has to offer, is now hosting its first ever Younger Traders Market.

The event will take place on Saturday, June 1st from 10am to 3pm. Organizers say, “Come and show your support for our local entrepreneurs.” For more information, visit their Facebook page.

The Sound of Springsteen at Hull City Hall – Saturday 1 June

Bruce Springsteen fans can celebrate the legendary music of “The Boss” this weekend at Hull City Hall, marking the 40th anniversary of the first release of the iconic album “Born in the USA”.

The organizers say: “From the fast-paced vocals to the phenomenal stage production, every detail is carefully crafted to transport you back to the golden age of rock 'n' roll. Whether you're a lifelong Springsteen fan or discovering his music for the first time, you'll be captivated by the thundering guitars, iconic saxophone and powerful lyrics that have shaped entire generations.”

Sewerby Squirrels History Explorers at Sewerby Hall – Monday 3 June

Each week at Sewerby Squirrels there are books to read, a sensory area and a themed activity designed specifically for children under 5. This week little ones can look forward to History Explorers. Children can dig into the past, play with Edwardian toys and create a cave painting.

Regular admission prices apply during opening hours. Outside opening hours admission prices are: £2 per child aged 3-4 years, including an accompanying adult; additional adults £2 each; Annual Pass holders and children under 3 are free. Book here.

Little Shop of Horrors at Hull Truck Theatre – Wednesday 22 May to Saturday 8 June

It's the last week to see the cult monster musical “Little Shop of Horrors.” The incredibly entertaining story, music and lyrics come from the dream team of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, famous for their work on the Disney films “Aladdin,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Little Mermaid.”

Follow hapless salesman Seymour as he stumbles upon a mysterious new plant that promises him fame and fortune, but at a price. Hull Truck says: “Satisfy your craving for musical hilarity with this devilishly delicious sci-fi musical hit that has captured the hearts of audiences around the world, now in this brand new production at the Hull Truck Theatre.”
