Place Cathédrale Rimouski dévoile son concept

Place the Cathédrale Rimouski to present its concept for the reflection of the building, even if the spaces cannot be realized.

The group has been working on this project since 2017 and therefore relies on public consultation to make its way to church. At that time, the concept was already aimed at expanding everyday life to reach a place outside the city.

As part of Proposition 2.0, it is recommended to dismantle and reconstruct the central part of the cathedral, remove the sacristy, carry out mirror reflection and install all the glass.

A member of the Place Cathédrale, Michel Francoeur, suggested that the project was not suitable for the future as the cathedral had become an unavoidable patrimonial classic.

“The outer cover remains intact (with this classification). If you want, you have developed a concept for redesigning your building that will ensure it lasts. I am in search of our idea and nurture, in search of our awe. We recently delivered a presentation to Monsieur Heppel (Jean-Paul, president of the Saint-Germain factory of Rimouski, who ran the cathedral) to understand the concept,” he explains.

The concept is very important for me personally, before the encounter between people, organisms and companies.

Place Cathédrale did not cover costs for its project valued at more than $15 million, an idea that is no longer relevant.
