Obituary for Werner Schnabel – Canton and Winsted and Granby, CT

Werner “Tom” Schnabel, 79, of Canton, husband of Jean (Langdon) Schnabel, died Monday (Nov. 19, 2001) at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. Born Feb. 22, 1922, in Haarlem, Holland, the son of the late Friedrich Wilhelm and Mia (Wilmer) Schnabel, he was a resident of Canton for over 30 years. He was a veteran of World War II and had served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Schnabel was employed for many years as a technician at the headquarters of the Southern New England Telephone Company before his retirement. He was a member of the VFW, NRA, life member of the Pioneers of SNET and an extra with the Simsbury Police Department and State Police. Besides his wife, he leaves behind four children and two stepchildren: Rita Rozantes and her husband, Peter, of West Granby; Thomas Schnabel and his wife, Michele, of Winsted; Judy Hoffman and her husband, George, of West Simsbury; Robert Schnabel of Winsted; Betsy Pratt and her husband, Timothy, of Canton; and Carol Pratt of Burlington, VT; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his sister, Inge Lesieur. There will be no visiting hours. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 24, at 2 p.m. at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike, Canton, with the Reverend Martin Shott officiating. Interment will be with military honors in Simsbury Cemetery, Simsbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to George J.
