Levine, Mervyn (Mickey). Mickey Levine died April 4, 2005, peacefully sleeping at his home in Tamarac, Florida. In his 86th year, Mickey lived a full and worthwhile life, contributing greatly to every community in which he lived. His guiding principle was always to make the world a better place through his life. Born in Duluth, Minnesota, an Army veteran of WWII, Mickey retired with honors to open Melody Lane record store and become a big band leader. He later produced auto, home and boat shows throughout the United States and Canada. He retired in 1985 as General Manager of the International Inn Hotel and Convention Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The following are some of Mickey's many accomplishments: Honored Life Shriner (AAD Temple in Duluth); Founding Member and President of the Variety Club of Winnipeg and Founding President of the Kiwanis Club of Tamarac; International President of the Hotel Sales and Marketing Association (HSMA); President of Gull Harbour Lodge in Manitoba, and board member of several municipal boards and committees in Tamarac. Family was the cornerstone of his life. Mickey is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of over 51 years, Peggy Levine; his three sons, Gary Levine, wife Julia, and grandchildren Matthew and Mark Holden of Owen Sound, ON; Thomas Levine, wife Margo, and grandchildren Eryn and Stacey of Dallas, TX; and William Levine, wife Susan, and grandchildren Ali and Matthew of New York, NY. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 6, at 12:00 p.m. at Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapel, 6701 W. Commercial Blvd., Tamarac, FL. Interment will be in Menorah Gardens & Funeral Chapels, 21100 W. Griffin Road, Southwest Ranches, FL. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
