Obituary for Joyce Schomer – Massachusetts; Granby, Connecticut

SCHOMER, Joyce M. Joyce M. (Mayer) Schomer, 73, of Wynnfields Circle, Southwick, MA, died Sunday (March 26, 2006) in Naples, FL. Joyce was born and educated in Toledo, OH and graduated from Central Catholic High School in Toledo in 1951. Joyce previously lived in Granby for 24 years and South Yarmouth, MA for 11 years before moving to Southwick last year. Joyce was a member of the Garden Club of Simsbury and the Red Hat Society. She is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, George J. Schomer; three sons, George J. Schomer, Jr., of Winsted, Todd J. Schomer of Southwick, MA and Daniel J. Schomer of Lancaster, VA; a brother, James E. Mayer of Lambertville, MI; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Molchan, in 2005. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 1, at 8:30 a.m. at the Southwick-Forastiere Funeral Home, 624 College Highway, followed by a Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Sheep Pasture Rd., Southwick, MA. Burial will be in the New Cemetery. Visitation hours are Friday, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions in Joyce's name may be made to your local hospice organization or to anyone else.
