Obituary for Don Blanchard – MA

SIERRA VISTA, Arizona – Donatien “Don” Blanchard, 80, a resident of Leominster, Massachusetts, for 50 years, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, in Sierra Vista after a long illness.

He was born on May 6, 1924 in Blanchard Village, New Brunswick, Canada, to Ernest and Emerise (Robichaud) Blanchard.

Mr. Blanchard served in the Canadian Army before moving to the United States.

He worked as a carpenter and millwright for 50 years.

He was active as a trustee in Local Carpenter's Union 48.

Mr. Blanchard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Priscilla (Lanteigne) Blanchard of Sierra Vista; a son, Ronald Blanchard of San Diego; a daughter, Lorraine (Alex) Burden of Sierra Vista; a grandson, Ryan Dickerson of Syracuse, Utah; three brothers, Ralph Blanchard of St. John, New Brunswick, Theo Blanchard of Bathurst, New Brunswick, and Yves Blanchard of Blanchard Village, New Brunswick; five sisters, Gilberthe Daigle of St. John, New Brunswick, Tina Chenard of Leominster, Andrea Blanchard of Moncton, New Brunswick, Francine Lavoie of Tracadie, New Brunswick, and Yvette Dugas of St. Therese, Ontario, Canada. He also leaves behind Terry Girouard of Ashburnham, Mass., who was like a son to him.
