The UFC brings its next pay-per-view to the Prudential Center with UFC 302, which will feature 12 fights on Saturday night. The main event is a UFC lightweight championship bout between champion Islam Makhachev and Dustin Poirier, who is looking to officially win the title and add another chapter to his illustrious career.

The co-main event will be a middleweight bout between the controversial Sean Strickland and Paulo Costa. The event kicks off what is expected to be an exciting month for the UFC, with Conor McGregor set to face Michael Sandler on June 29.

UFC 302 results: Jailton Almeida knocks out Alexander Romano

We have our first submission of the night! Jailton Almeida finished his fight against Alexander Romanov early in the first round with a back-naked choke, resulting in a first-round submission.

Despite the weight difference, Almeida had no trouble knocking Romano out in the first round. Almeida climbs onto Romano's back and is able to force him to submit with ease.

“I said I'm going to finish the fight. I know I was knocked out in the last fight, but I came here to finish the fight,” Almeida said through an interpreter.

Almeida celebrated with a dance in the middle of the ring.

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is at home at UFC 302, not far from the team's facility in New Jersey.

But no one expected that the four-time MVP – who has only played four games for the Jets but has made plenty of headlines – would be the most popular figure in the building.

Former President Donald Trump announced on his Truth Community account that he would be at the Prudential Center on Saturday night. It's been a busy week for the Republican presidential candidate.

Grant Dawson defeated Joe Solecki by unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27).

Dawson comes out of the gate quickly and immediately tries a flying knee strike, but Solecki grabs Dawson's leg, gradually bringing him down and climbing into the guillotine. Dawson was able to escape and gain control of the field, which he maintained throughout the fight. Solecki elbowed Dawson above his right eye, but otherwise was unable to threaten Dawson.

Matthews earned his 13th UFC victory with a unanimous decision win over Philip Rowe (29-28, 29-28, 30-27) in a welterweight bout.

Rowe has a reach of 80.5 inches, the second longest reach among active UFC welterweights, and he uses his 7.5-inch wingspan to his advantage. Rowe landed a right hand to Matthews' face, breaking his nose midway through the first round. Despite bleeding profusely, Matthews stunned Rowe with two punches in the second round, taking Rowe to the ground for the win.

Basil Hafeez defeated Mickey Morning by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28). Hafez and Gall traded blows throughout the fight, but Hafez kept the upper hand.

After his victory, Hafiz delivered a message.

“One thing I want to say, and it has been on my heart for a long time: I do not support genocide,” Hafiz told the crowd. “I do not support the killing of innocent women and children for war, money and power. We are all children of God and we all deserve a fair chance in life. Free Palestine.”

Aileen Perez defeated Jocelyn Edwards by unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) in the women's bantamweight division. Perez celebrated with his “signature twerk.”

Although Edwards did not receive a point deduction, the second round was officially stopped after he was called for a headbutt. After the restart, Perez responded with a spinning backfist that hit Edwards in the face and knocked her down. Perez controlled the fight and was able to take Edwards down several times.

There was no romance between Perez and Edwards. The war of words erupted when they fought in November before UFC Fight Night 232 in Las Vegas, when Perez was scheduled to face Lucy Butilova a few days later. The UFC did not schedule a fight between Perez and Edwards outside the ring, instead scheduling the fight for Saturday.

At the start of the fight, Perez reached out to tap Edwards, who did not return the gesture. However, the two later embraced and appeared to have ended their argument.

Andre Lima will remain undefeated.

Lima came out of the starting blocks strong and delivered power kick after power kick to Raposo's body. Lima landed 23 leg kicks and 13 powerful head punches against Raposo in three rounds. Raposo, on the other hand, was able to land 30 powerful head punches against Lima, but that wasn't enough to win the flyweight fight. Lima was declared the winner by split decision, much to the surprise of commentators John Anick, Daniel Cormier and Joe Rogan, who all felt Lima should have won easily.
