'Massive change' Jack Brown's first impressions of Hull KR amid his father's joy

He's a childhood Robin, but Jack Brown reckons his dream move to Hull, KR will bring someone more joy than himself – his dad. Brown secured a permanent move to the club last week after the two Hull clubs agreed a swap deal that saw Yusuf Aydin move in the other direction.

The prop master had already agreed to cross the city at the end of the season. However, he made his debut much earlier than he expected after wearing the red and white against Warrington Wolves last Thursday, less than a week after playing against the black and white at the same ground.

After the game, Brown was able to enjoy the experience with his family, who are Rovers fans. And among them was his father, who was an enthusiastic supporter of the team even when his son played for the enemy.

“People say I’m emotionless,” Brown said. “But it was really nice to see all my family there after the game. Of course the result wasn't what we wanted, which is disappointing, but it felt really good to go up to my mom and dad and hug them.” .

“My dad followed Rovers all the time anyway so he would have been here anyway. My father is probably prouder than me; It happened so quickly that I really didn’t have time to process it and think about it.”

“It was a crazy week. On Thursday I was told it was my last game for FC and everything happened so quickly that I didn't have time to really think about it. All the KR staff welcomed me with open arms.”, and the guys were great with me, I felt comfortable after a day.

Brown feels like a change of scenery would benefit him. After an excellent 2022 season at the MKM Stadium, he struggled to reach the same level of form. However, he believes Craven Park will provide the environment he needs to take his game to a new level.

“It will be really good for my career,” he said. “I reached a point where I couldn't get as far as I wanted to, so I hope I can come here and do that. Sometimes you need that change, and hopefully that's it. The future will tell us more, I'm hoping for good things here.
