Joan Wesley Obituary – Fullerton, CA (1932-2024)

Joan (McLaughlin) Wesley was born on June 23, 1932 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She was the oldest of four children. Her parents were Gordon and Rhea McLauglin. On June 3, 1957, Joan married her husband, Dr. Joseph Michael Wesley, in Ottawa. Soon after their marriage, Joan and her husband moved to Regina, Saskatchewan, where Joe partnered with his brother as a family physician. In Regina, Joan gave birth to five children: James Joseph (1958), Brian Richard (1960), Robert Gordon (1961), Anne Elizabeth (1963) and David Charles (1966). In July 1973, Joan and her family moved from Regina to Fullerton, California, where her husband, Joe, joined Valencia Mesa Medical Group. Joan enjoyed reading and was an enthusiastic supporter of libraries throughout her community. Joan loved being with her husband, children and grandchildren. She was active at St. Mary's Catholic School in Fullerton, where four of her children attended, and later at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church in Brea. Joan loved hosting large family gatherings at her home in Fullerton. She was famous for her delicious cabbage rolls and delicious avocado and mushroom salad. Later in her life, Joan enjoyed spending time in the peaceful desert of Borrego Springs, California. Joan is survived by her children: James, Robert, Anne and David; She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Joseph, and her son, Brian. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held for family members at a later date.
