Obituary for Jean Kosolofski
Our dear mother/grandma Jean Kosolofski passed away peacefully at Heritage Manor on Friday, April 19, 2024, at the age of 92.
Mother was her husband Joe's partner in every sense of the word as they worked and raised their family on their farm southwest of Dodsland, where they lived from 1958 until their retirement
In 2010 Mum and Dad retired from their beloved farm and community in Dodsland and moved to their home in Kindersley where they enjoyed a slower pace of life, still being active with a garden in the back yard, going to church, playing cards and had lots of fun visiting family and friends.
In 2019, Mom and Dad moved into the Caleb Apartments, where they enjoyed meeting new and old friends, participating in the activities there, and enjoying the special care and attention from Nancy and the staff. My mother particularly enjoyed the weekly bingos and card games downstairs (she was very competitive!), and even in her small apartment she managed to set up a small quilt frame and finish two more quilts for the great-grandchildren. Quilting was one of Mom's favorite hobbies and we estimate that she completed over 100 quilts in her lifetime, many of which she gave as gifts to family and friends.
After my father died, my mother moved from her Caleb apartment to Heritage Manor, where she lived until her death. Mama was blessed to have many family and friends visit her throughout her time at the Manor and was deeply grateful to everyone who visited her there and to the nurses and staff who cared for her. She always thanked them and told them she loved them.
Mother predeceased one infant grandson, Cliff Kosolofski, in 1984, and two sons, Gordon in 2011 and Al in 2021. Her loving husband Joe also passed away in May 2021.
Mom goes to remember her, a large family – Louise (Sid) Reid, Kathy (John) Smith, Bill, Sharon (Blair) Huard, David (Frank) Friesen, Danny (Cindy) and daughters-in-law Joanne Kosolofski. & Pam Kosolofski, 25 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren, her sister-in-law Adeline Gunderman, her brother-in-law Mike Kosolofski and his wife Doreen, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many grandchildren added by marriage and others through their special love and care for Mom, including Vanessa Arrieche, Joanne (Ramo) Cuanan, Jean Ramo and Elisa Ada.
The treasures Mama leaves behind are not trophies won or certificates earned, but a legacy of deep faith, a successful 72-year marriage, and a large, loving family. Mom and Dad were always seen together and were often referred to as “the sweet little couple.” Now they rest together in peace.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Kindersley, SK on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Fr. John Abban-Bonsu as Celebrant Priest. Burial will follow in Kindersley Cemetery. Donations in Jean's memory may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Women's League (see details below).
