How to watch the 2024 Memorial Cup final – Saginaw Spirit vs. London Knights

SAGINAW – Capping off an exciting week of hockey, two Ontario Hockey League rivals will look to capture the junior title in the Memorial Cup final when the Saginaw Spirit take on the London Knights.

The Knights have made it this far by being the only team to go through the preliminary round undefeated. After a few separate wins over the Moose Jaw Warriors and Drummondville Voltigeurs, London needed a couple of late goals from Toronto Maple Leafs rookie Easton Cowan to beat the Spirit last Wednesday and qualify directly for the championship game. They have seen great performances from players like Denver Barkey, Ruslan Gazizov and goalie Michael Simpson.

The Knights are looking to win their third Memorial Cup on Sunday, their first since their dramatic overtime win over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in Red Deer in 2016. They are 2-1 in the Memorial Cup final, with their only loss coming in 2012 against the Shawinigan Cataractes.

The Spirit shook off their loss to London in style by putting together a dominating performance against the Warriors in the semifinals. Led by Ethan Hay and Rodwin Dionicio, who each scored four points, Saginaw won 7-1 and is now 3-1 in the tournament.

The Spirit are seeking their first Memorial Cup title. Saginaw is looking to become the 12th host team to win the tournament since 1983. The Saint John Sea Dogs last accomplished this feat two years ago.

This will be the fifth time two OHL teams have faced each other in the Memorial Cup final, and the first since the host Windsor Spitfires defeated the Erie Otters in 2017.

With last Wednesday's win, the Knights are now 7-4 against the Spirit. The two teams split four regular-season meetings before the Knights defeated the Spirit in six games in the Western Conference finals.
