FOGARTY AND JONES GUIDE IOWA TO A 4-3 WIN OVER MANITOBA

WINNIPEG, Manitoba – Peyton Jones stopped 36 of 39 shots to earn his first career AHL win as the Iowa Wild defeated the Manitoba Moose 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at Canada Life Centre. Steven Fogarty scored two goals and two assists in the win.

Luke Toporowski scored the first goal for Iowa on the power play at 10:37. Daemon Hunt shot from the point on goal, which Steven Fogarty directed over the pads of Collin Delia (11 saves) and Toporowski buried the rebound.

Manitoba outscored Iowa 9-7 in the first period.

Kevin Conley set up Simon Johansson on a 2-on-1 duel for an up-ice finish at 15:23 of the middle frame. Fogarty received a second assist in the game.

Fogarty gave the Wild a 3-0 lead with just 10 seconds left in the second period. After Toporowski poked a pass forward from behind the net, Sammy Walker shot the puck across the crease for Fogarty to shoot into the goal.

The Moose outscored the Wild 24:13 in the 40th minute of the game.

Fogarty parried a centering pass from Joël Teasdale and fired a shot under the glove of Delia 4:34 into the third minute. Johansson scored his second assist of the game with the goal.

Kyle Capobianco ended the shutout 1:22 later with a right hash.

Ville Heinola pulled Manitoba within two goals at 11:41 of the third period with a shot from the right point.

CJ Suess scored with 1:53 left and Delia moved in favor of the extra attacker, but Jones blocked a late shot to secure the win.

Manitoba defeated Iowa 39-15. The Wild finished the game 2-3 with the man advantage and killed all three Moose power plays.
