According to the United States Geological Survey, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck the Prince Edward Island region on Friday (May 31).

The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 10.0 kilometers. The USGS said there were no reports of residents feeling the earthquake at the time of publication Friday.

The earthquake in the Prince Edward Island region occurred less than a week after a magnitude 6.6 earthquake was reported in Tonga last Sunday (May 26), according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake's epicenter was in Fangale'ounga at a depth of 112.2 kilometers (about 70 miles).

The earthquake in Tonga was reported two hours after a magnitude 2.9 earthquake in Hawaii, according to the United States Geological Survey. The epicenter of the earthquake was in Pāhala, at a depth of 32.5 kilometers.
