It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothea (Dottie) Margret Hancock, 88, of Lunenburg, announces her passing on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Shoreham Village Nursing Home in Chester.
She was born in Turnip Cove, Newfoundland, the daughter of the late Raymond and Violet (Hacquoil) Miles.
Mom was a devoted wife and mother of six beautiful children. She was quiet, gentle and had a heart of gold. We will miss her very much.
Dorothea (Dottie) is survived by her children; Sandra (Dale) Knock, Lunenburg, Davilyn (Richard) Knickle, Lunenburg; Levi (Marilyn) Hancock (Harbour Breton); Donna Moody, (Lockeport); Lana (Vaughan) Dexter, Sable River; Darren (Jacqueline) Hancock (Lunenburg); brother, Frank (Marilyn) Miles, Creston South, NFLD; Sister Cynthia (Sam) Lawrence, Edmonton, Alberta; Sister, Lily Batstone, Portuguese Cove-St. Philips, NFLD; sister Donna (Walter) Marshall, Pools Cove, NFLD and loving grandmother of several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband Levi; sister Marion and brother-in-law Gordon Ingram; sister, Lillian; brother, George; Brother-in-law, Earl Batstone.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy #3, Lunenburg. A memorial service and burial will be held in Newfoundland at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia and Diabetes Canada and would be appreciated by the family.
