Canadian Coast Guard inshore lifeboat stations opened across Ontario

SARNIA, ON, May 15, 2024 /CNW/ – Canadian Coast Guard inshore lifeboat stations on the Great Lakes, Georgian Bay and St. Lawrence River are now open.

The inshore lifeboat stations are staffed by post-secondary students recruited and trained by the Canadian Coast Guard. They provide additional marine search and rescue services during the busy summer recreational boating season. The stations are located below Britt on the island of Gereaux, Brebeuf Island (Georgian Bay), Hill island (St Lawrence River), A Coruna (St. Clair River), Mitchell's Bay (Lake St. Clair) and Long point (Lake Erie).

They will be open from May 15, 2024at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Timeuntil September 4, 2024.

In addition, the Canadian Coast Guard has search and rescue stations Thunder Bay, Tobermory, Meaford, Göderich, Amherstburg, Port DoverPort Weller, Cobourg And Kingston.
