We're counting our steps and staying fit this summer! And we're enjoying the best views while we do it. If you fancy a scenic stroll through Ontario's forests, this beautiful park has a fantastic boardwalk trail through a gorge. Now that's what we call a view!

These stunning canyons and cliffs can be found just an hour outside of downtown Toronto. Mono Cliffs Provincial Park is a popular day trip destination any time of year—and for good reason.

There are several hiking trails ranging in length from a few meters to almost 5 kilometers.

Mono Cliffs is conveniently located in the town of Mono, right on the Bruce Trail. It is part of the Niagara Escarpment Parks System and the Escarpment Biosphere Reserve.

It's one of those parks that doesn't need much to stand out, but what does stand out is its scenic canyon.

And to enjoy it to the fullest, you can take a beautiful short hiking trail that leads through a gorge.

Take a walk on the Spillway Trail, a 0.8-mile hike that takes you through the gorge, over cliffs and 100-foot-high rock walls.

Since it won't take long to reach all the trails, you can also explore the other hiking trails in the park.

  • Walter Tovell Trail – 4.8 km
  • McCarston’s Trail – 3.6 km
  • Carriage path – 1.3 km
  • Spillway Trail – 1.3 km
  • Cliff-Top Side Trail – 2.8 km
  • South Outlier Trail – 3.5 km
  • Viewing trail – 600 m
  • Connecting path – 600 m

There are also bike paths and even winter activities like snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Of course, only when the time comes. But since we're in summer mode, we're ready to enjoy nature to the fullest.

Visiting Mono Cliffs requires advance reservations, so be sure to obtain your daily vehicle registration online before you leave.
