Steven Kwan returns from injury list, Guardians squad changes

0

The Cleveland Guardians are slowly recovering on all fronts as the team closes out a successful month of May, having just gotten their Gold Glove left fielder back ahead of a crucial home game.

Steven Kwan was officially activated from the injured list Friday afternoon after missing the last month with a hamstring injury sustained on May 4. He will return to the lineup Friday afternoon and start as the first batter.

Kwan was one of the best hitters in all of baseball before his injury, sporting a slash line of .353/.407/.496 with a .903 OPS. The Guardians hope he has more of the same when he returns.

Kwan made four rehab appearances (two for the Lake County Captains and two for the Columbus Clippers) before returning, going 4-for-10 in those games and not recording a strikeout.

The Guardians have been playing great baseball lately and the signing of Kwan makes them an even more dangerous team.

The Guardians had to take a step to make room for Kwan in the squad. Estevan Floral was the underdog in this case and was chosen for the mission.

Cleveland signed Florial in the offseason in hopes that he would add power to their outfield. He appeared in 36 games for the Guardians, batting .173/.264/.367, which included three home runs and 11 RBIs.

There were certainly some moments that showed Florial's potential, but he ran out of options and Cleveland needed room on the roster for other players.
