Proskie, Nicholas – Obituary – Moose Jaw

It is with deep sadness and grief that we announce the sudden death of Nicholas Stephan John Proskie at the young age of 28, on Sunday, May 19, 2024.

Nick was born on February 10, 1996 in Calgary, AB to Richard Proskie and Dana Switzer who separated at an early age. He grew up with his brother Steffan and his father Richard (Marina 2 years later) until he was old enough to stand on his own two feet. He attended Prince Arthur Elementary, Peacock High School and John Chisholm in Moose Jaw, SK where he graduated by simply signing his name. Nick lived in many provinces and places but his home was always Moose Jaw to be closer to his dad. He loved hanging out with his friends and visiting them but when fishing he spent most of his time with his dad.

For those who knew him – and there are many – Nick was a character, the “life of the party”. He touched so many people who came to appreciate his sense of humor, his laughter and his jokes. He was full of energy, fun-loving and caring, a true friend that everyone could rely on.

Nick loved trucks and driving and worked hard to get his bike and truck, but most of all he loved to just laugh and have fun with friends and family. He never gave up on his dreams.

Nick was introduced to the trucking industry by his best friend and “brother from another mother,” Damon Hagen, and he never backed down. He loved it. Nick will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and everyone who was lucky enough to know him.

Richard, Marina and his family would like to thank all friends who helped them during this extremely difficult time.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 1064 3rd Ave NW, Moose Jaw, SK with Deacon Lamont Dyck officiating.. This will be followed by a procession to the Crushed Can at 82 Manitoba St. W, where a social gathering will be held in honor of Nick.. The family would like to express their gratitude to the owner, Alex. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nick's name may be sent to the Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Station Main, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7. Arrangements are in the hands of the Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Andrew Pratt, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
