Northumberland County is not on the list of Ontario's worst roads

When it comes to the worst roads in Eastern Ontario, Northumberland County was not particularly well represented – which is good news for residents and a credit to the Alnwick/Haldimand, Brighton, Cobourg, Cramhae, Hamilton, Port Hope, Trent Hills and Northumberland County road departments.

The CAA has released its annual list and no roads in our region made it into the top five, which in itself is testament to the great work that goes on to keep over 500 kilometres of roads in good condition.

To the north of us, two streets made the list in Peterborough: Water Street and Landsdowne Street. To the west, Trulls Road in Courtice was listed, and to the east you'll find the road voted worst in Eastern Ontario: County Road 49 in Prince Edward County.

We spoke to community relations consultant Brian Pirvu.

Pirvu adds that it is not only car drivers who have contributed.

In Ontario, 145 municipalities have nominated over 2,000 different roads in their communities. The municipalities are responsible for approximately 140,000 kilometres of roads across the province.
