Ivanhoé Cambridge and Le 9e are pleased to announce that the long-awaited reopening of this iconic Montreal space will take place on May 17, 2024


MONTREAL, April 19, 2024 /CNW/ – The extensive renovation work is now complete, Le 9eThe striking restaurant on the ninth floor of the Montreal Eaton Center will officially reopen to the public on August 13, 2019 17th of May. The iconic Art Deco room, which is a listed building Quebec Cultural Heritage Act in August 2000, has been carefully restored in a way that honors the spirit of the restaurant's original design while respecting its historical value. The property is owned by Ivanhoé Cambridge and is operated by a group of Montreal Entrepreneurs including Jeff Baikowitz, Marco Gucciardi, Andy Nulman, Madeleine Kojakian and the creative collective 7 Doigts.

A magnificent space is reborn

Le9e (Le Neuviemefor the “ninth floor”) will have 120 seats Île de France Restaurant that offers an intimate dining experience; The gold And Silver rooms, two additional multi-purpose rooms with a capacity of up to 20 people each; And La Grande Salle, a versatile venue suitable for hosting a variety of events including live shows, exhibitions and private events. This exceptional location is complemented by a generously equipped cocktail bar and a café on the ground floor of the building. The maximum capacity of Le 9e there will be 500 guests.

The Île de France Offers a fine dining experience, led by the chef, inspired by the menu of the original restaurant Liam Hopkins (Hopkins, McKiernan, Park) and culinary director Derek Damman (Maison Publique, McKiernan, Fifteen). Andrew Whibley (Cloakroom Bar, Dominion Bar) will manage the cocktail bar, with Dominique Jacques (MELK) joins the team as Café Manager. Table reservations for the Île de France will be available from 1st of May.

The focus is on preserving architectural heritage and public accessibility

To ensure respect for the architectural heritage of the space and its preservation, Ivanhoé Cambridge To carry out the renovation work, which was approved by the Ministry of Culture and Communications (MCC), the company worked with EVOQ Architecture, a firm with proven expertise in projects with a heritage component.

In Ivanhoe Cambridge Preserving and highlighting the site's unique heritage was paramount to the site's successful reopening on the ninth floor. The project's other major challenge was reopening the space to the public after a quarter-century of vacancy.
