Obituary for GERHARDT EDEL
Gerhardt (Garry) Edel was born on February 5, 1931 in the Shevlin, MB area. He grew up in a large family in a pioneer's log home. Although his family was poor, the home was filled with the love of Christ. Garry was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church in Shevlin. Christ and his gifts of forgiveness of sins and eternal life stayed with him throughout his life. He married Violet Yuzik on July 1, 1961 in Melville, SK. Garry and Violet have three children: Kenneth (Claudia); Gaylene (Robert); Blair (Elaine). They have four grandchildren: Kelsey, Hannah, Luke and Brayden. Garry was a humble man, a devoted husband and a loving and compassionate father and grandfather. He learned to play guitar and accordion by ear and often played and sang good old country and gospel songs. He devoted himself to his work at Manitoba Hydro for 41 years. Garry's earthly life ended in Christ on May 26, 2024 and so his soul rests before the Savior.
A service in which the Lord proclaims the resurrection of the flesh and eternal life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 1, at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 401 Kildare Avenue W., followed by a luncheon and burial in Glen Lawn Cemetery, 455 Lagimodiere Boulevard.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
