Disabled school bus driver exceeded legal limit twice, had students on board: police

A western Manitoba man is awaiting a court date after police say he was caught driving a school bus while his blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit.

According to the Manitoba First Nations Police Service, officers responded to a report of an impaired driver driving a school bus in the Waywayseecappo First Nation on April 15. According to the MFNPS, reports indicated the driver was driving a school bus with children on board on Procure Road.

Police located a male driver and determined he was under the influence of alcohol.

The driver was arrested for driving while impaired by alcohol and transported to the police unit where he provided breath samples that resulted in readings twice the legal limit.

According to police, the man was released on an invitation to appear in court at a later date.
