It's been almost a week since Brian Lush disappeared somewhere in Ontario.

He was last seen around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at a gas station in Summerstown, southeast of Ottawa, near the Vermont border.

His van was found there along with his personal belongings, but there has been no trace of the 51-year-old man from Stephenville, NL since then.

“On surveillance video, just after 4:30 p.m., we see him get out of his truck, walk around the front of the truck and then move out of camera range,” said Bill Dickson, media relations coordinator for the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). East Region, CBC News said Tuesday.

“As far as we know, he was never seen again.”

His brother Craig Lush describes the situation as difficult, difficult and very unusual.

Craig Lush told CBC News his brother always stays in touch with his family and is heading east to Newfoundland.

“We never thought this would happen. Walking away from his truck is highly unusual and then remaining without contact for an extended period of time is something he has never done in the past,” he said.

“We keep it together. We are many. There is a large circle of family and friends in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and across the country.”

The OPP is actively searching for Brian Lush and is asking the public for dashcam footage from westbound Highway 401 in the Boundary Road area near Cornwall starting Thursday between 10:30 a.m. ET and 12 p.m.

Dickson said there may have been a few potential sightings since Wednesday, but they were mostly partial matches to Lush's clothing description along the highway and on a hiking trail.

The OPP is also asking hunters and others with trail cameras in the South Glengarry, South Stormont and Cornwall area to check for possible sightings.

“We don’t know where he is. We don't know why he walked away from his truck. “He left his personal belongings behind, the keys were left in the truck and from what we hear, that's completely out of character for him,” Dickson said.

“We allocated as many resources as possible.”

These resources include an emergency response team specializing in search and rescue, multiple K9 units, helicopters, drones and trained SAR volunteers.

Dickson said there was no evidence of foul play. He said Brian Lush should have been in North Sydney on Friday evening to catch the ferry home.

Brian Lush is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, medium build, weighing 200 pounds, with brown eyes and short brown hair. He was last seen wearing a blue hoodie, jeans and possibly a baseball cap.
